Steve Fryers
President

Steve, originally from Mississauga, has been a dedicated Paramedic with Niagara EMS since 2009. After becoming an ACP in 2013, he's taken on various roles including Preceptor, Coach Paramedic, Instructor, and Auditor. He's contributed to several committees, served as the NPA's Director of Finance, and is a strong advocate for Paramedic mental health and professional advancement. Most recently, he's provided healthcare support in Indigenous communities, especially during COVID-19 outbreaks.  His goal is to continue to grow the NPA into new areas that support its mission to promote "the practice of paramedicine" through strong public relations, regional and provincial advocacy, and supporting the health and wellness of it's members.  Have a question, an idea, or want to get involved? Please reach out anytime!
Wes Doig
Vice President

Born and raised in St. Catharines, Wes has been a medic for 15 years and have held many different roles throughout the service. Now, working on the Outreach vehicle (connecting with unhoused patients across Niagara), he strives to strengthen our community and make it a safer and healthier place for everyone to live in.  His goal as Vice President is to connect the Association with as many community agencies and events as possible. Promoting our great profession is something that he has been doing for many years, and as Vice President, he wants to engage and empower the Association's members to do the same.

Hayden Paterson
Director of Corporate Membership

Hayden has been with NEMS for just over 11 years now and going strong! He is excited to be the Director of Corporate Membership and get involved with events and businesses in the region! In the past this role has gotten discounts with businesses around the region for members but has more recently been focused on building relationships with local businesses and finding ways to support each other. He wants to continue this trend set by his predecessors and also look into possibly reopening the discount line with certain places! He promises to keep everyone posted on my progress in the near future, and is always open to your questions!

Sarah Kulawic
Director of Public Relations

Born and raised in the Niagara region and a paramedic with NEMS for 6 years, Sarah is on her second term (3rd year) in the role of Director of Public Relations. She gained an appreciation for media and marketing when she worked as a marketing assistant throughout university, slowly growing her knowledge and enjoyment of the creative process while running her own social media accounts showcasing her many adventures. She’s excited to continue to promote the incredible work our paramedics do, getting different people engaged in the process and having fun making inspiring content with all of you. Ideas for videos, promotional events or have a fun photo you want to share? Feel free to message her to make it happen!
Miranda Ross
Director of Social Events

Miranda has been a Primary Care Paramedic for over 9 years, and runs on coffee, good company, and questionable playlists. When she's not on the road (or on a bike), she is passionate about building community within our service. She has been part of the Bike Medic team, pedaled from Hamilton to Ottawa for the Paramedic Memorial Ride, and somehow still thinks organizing events sounds like fun. As the new Director of Social Events, she is here to help make our members work lives a little more connected—and a lot more fun. Whether it’s EMS week, a social gathering, or a random excuse for cupcakes, she's in.
Heather Potts
Dispatch Liaison

Heather is one of the Potts clan here at Niagara EMS, and has been an SSC for five years. Originally from Ottawa, she has a background in autism and brain injury support, then earned her firefighting certifications in Texas. Heather looks forward to working as the dispatch liaison to help strengthen the relationships within the service and increase engagement.  Heather spends her days off with her nieces and dog, Copper Potts and running her side business painting murals and watercolours.
