Our Family Caring for Yours! EMS Week 2014

Date: 2014-05-23

Niagara Region, May 23, 2014 - Niagara Emergency Medical Services, along with Niagara Paramedic Association, will be celebrating EMS week starting May 26, 2014. This week serves as an opportunity to highlight the services performed by the professionals who deliver emergency medical services in our communities.

Aligning with this year's theme of "Our Family Caring for Yours!" a number of events are planned to demonstrate the role that Niagara EMS plays in caring for your family. Events include open houses at the EMS stations, meeting an EMS professional at the Ontario Early Years Centre, special illumination of Niagara Falls, and a meet and greet at Market Square in St. Catharines.

"I'm honoured to lead a high-quality, patient-focused service, achieved only through the tremendous dedication of the professional men and women who make up this service," stated Chief Kevin Smith, Niagara EMS. "It is through their hard work and specialized skills that our family cares for your family each and every day."

Melissa Lacroix, president of the NPA said, "In our personal lives, we emphasize the importance of a safe and healthy lifestyle to prevent injury and illness to our loved ones. It's only second nature to our professionals that we care for our patients in the same manner - like family."

Residents are encouraged to tweet while at one of our activities using #NEMSweek2014. For a complete listing of events occurring throughout the week, visit our Emergency Medical Services Week page.

Niagara EMS is an integral part of our community's health care system. As trained and dedicated professionals, paramedics, advanced emergency medical dispatchers, and support staff are ready to respond when the unexpected happens, by providing the highest quality of patient-focused pre-hospital care to the residents and visitors of Niagara.

The Niagara Paramedic Association is a non-union professional association that advocates for the highest level of care for patients. The NPA was started in 1998 and only had 40 members. Since inception, the NPA has grown to over 200 members.Main 5
